We are actively collaborating with Sony, alongside JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and GISTDA (Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency of Thailand), to evaluate and demonstrate the practical use cases of Sony’s ELTRES LPWA (Low-Power Wide-Area) communication device in real-world conditions across Thailand. This collaboration aims to determine the device’s suitability for various applications in both marine and land-based environments.

As part of this effort, we have conducted two pilot projects. The first involves tracking marine debris in the Gulf of Thailand. This project assesses the ELTRES device’s ability to maintain stable long-range communication in open-sea conditions—critical for maritime environmental monitoring. The second project focuses on monitoring water levels in rice fields located in the central region of Thailand, where reliable and energy-efficient communication is essential for agricultural applications.

These projects serve not only to validate the technical performance of the ELTRES LPWA device under different environmental conditions but also to demonstrate its potential for broader use in Thailand. By contributing to real-world trials, we support the advancement of LPWA technology for sustainable and scalable IoT solutions in both coastal and inland settings.

In these collaborative studies, our team is responsible for the end-to-end technical operations, including device installation, system maintenance, and continuous monitoring. We also conduct thorough data analysis to evaluate signal quality and communication performance across different environments. Our role ensures that the LPWA devices operate reliably and effectively, providing critical insights into their suitability for long-range, low-power applications in both marine and agricultural settings throughout Thailand.
